Prologue
“I remembered that I touched his body and I felt the warmth passing to the cold, and I said to him, ‘Paul, you wake up, there’s still bread to collect’…
They say every nation has its heroes.
And every hero has his or her duty, his or her own calling.
Ms Bridget Lew is one of them, and she believes that her calling is from God.
In a world driven by profit, how many of us are truly willing to give up everything, to follow the path of social service, or to fulfil the calling that God gives us?
How many of us are willing to fight for a people who don’t belong to our land? How many of us are willing to take on slavery and oppression, rampant in our everyday life?
Our search was over when we met Ms Bridget Lew.
Her life is one that surprises others as much as it impresses us.
In this biography, we seek to explore one of the few voices against the modern-day oppression in the maid trade. We look at her spiritual journey through life – how a mother-of-two wrestled with the challenges that life threw at her with inspiration from the people around her. We learn how she found God calling, how God provided her needs, and the legacy she leaves. We understand why everyone is chosen by God, and why everyone has a calling.
This is the story of a woman’s path towards the extraordinary – a story that delineates a woman’s fight towards fulfilling her duty. This is the story of miracles – a story of a Christian’s pilgrimage towards wisdom and fulfillment.
Most of all, this is a story celebrating the power to change.
“The most eloquent prayer is the prayer through hands that heal and bless.”
- Billy Graham (1918- )
